I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in the mental health field for more than 25 years.

As an NYC psychologist, I have over 25 years of experience helping patients reach their goals. I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in and around NYC my entire career. I provide 1:1 therapy for individuals facing a variety of personal, interpersonal, academic, and/or professional struggles. I employ a primarily psychodynamic approach, while also employing cognitive behavioral (CBT) and other approaches to most directly meet the needs of my patients. In support of my work with children and adolescents, I also regularly consult with parents regarding their child’s emotional, social, behavioral, and academic experiences and needs.

Experience

In my career, I have provided mental health services in private practice, private, public, and parochial schools, hospitals, and community-based organizations. The majority of my psychotherapy work focuses on anxiety, sadness or depression, interpersonal difficulties, significant life changes, challenges at school or work, and family stressors. I most often utilize a psychodynamic and insight-oriented approach, however, as is appropriate, I also draw on cognitive behavioral therapy and techniques (CBT), mindfulness and stress reduction, and other approaches, as is indicated by the focus of the treatment.

Prior to devoting the majority of my time to private practice, I was the Director of Psychological Services at the Collegiate School for 16 years. At Collegiate, I created the Department of Psychological Services and developed a comprehensive mental health program addressing the acute needs of students, as well as promoting resilience in the entire school community. Before joining the Collegiate faculty, I was the Director of the NYU Child Study Center’s School-Based Intervention Program, where I led a team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers in providing mental health services and conducting research in schools in Lower Manhattan following the 9/11 attacks.

Education

I received Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees from New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in psychology from Vassar College. Additionally, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the NYU Medical Center. I hold licenses as both a Clinical Psychologist and a School Psychologist and am a member of the American Psychological Association. I completed my clinical internship in clinical psychology at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center.
